These values are based on certain parameters, calculations and/or algorithms from a specific test protocol or maximal effort. So to get a comparison, it’s best to use the same method to test, and then look at the trend over time. Knowing what impacts doing test/effort, as well as general health at the time can also affect the result, just like a metabolic cart test would also be dependent on how you perform on the day.

Some links on Intervals where different testing methods have been discussed:

> This paper: [https://www.researchgate.net/publication/319947872\_Cycling\_Power\_Outputs\_Predict\_Functional\_Threshold\_Power\_And\_Maximum\_Oxygen\_Uptake](https://www.researchgate.net/publication/319947872_Cycling_Power_Outputs_Predict_Functional_Threshold_Power_And_Maximum_Oxygen_Uptake) Estimates VO2Max based on age and FTP. Formula is: VO2max (ml. kg -1. min -1 ) = age (y) × -0.313 + FTP (W. kg-1 ) × 11.733 + 27.056 So you could calculate it for everyone you know age, weight and eFTP for.

> Hi everyone! I was wondering, how exactly I can read te HR Curve Chart to “check that my VO2 max intervals are working” (as the help text reads below the chart)? What would I have to look for? Are there example charts that show VO2 max intervals that work or do not work? Thank you! Cheers Philipp

Doing a ramp test, you can estimate using this site.
