Found this bug when setting up my training plan in the calendar.
Unfortunately the workout builder doesnât calculate training load for HR only steps yet. So when you edit the workout and add an extra character after the HR is sees that step as being for power as % of FTP and suddenly the workout has load.
I have just added support for calculating training load for HR based workouts using HRSS (normalised TRIMP). One hour at approx LTHR comes out at about 100 as you would expect.
If a step has power and HR then power is used to calculate load. If the workout has any steps with power then they should all have power to get an accurate load calculation.
Nice!
Just a thing about it: In âSettingsâ we use lactate threshold hr but, to prescribe the workout Maximum Heart rate is used⌠It doesnât make much sense for me. I think it would be useful to chose between these parameters in the workout builder.
Probably best to support setting HR zones as % of max HR in /settings.
Hmmmm, Iâm not sure about that⌠I mean, itâs good because I know some people use Max HR for training. But I still thinking that lactate hr is a better tool, since 2 people with the same max hr will probably have different lactate threshold heart rates.
Do people do workouts according to % of LTHR instead of % max HR? I could add âLTHRâ as units to the language in addition to the current âHRâ?
I do neither
Yes, for heart rate itâs actually very common to prescribe a workout based on lthr. Joe friel zones (the ones that you use in intervals) are based on lthr. If you are training based on his zones of training, it makes sense to prescribe workouts based on his zones = % of lthr, no?!
Max HR is a pretty dated and not especially accurate or meaningful method. A Threshold HR setting and zones calculated from that is much more common and useful.
Any update on it?
Not yet but I will get on it!
This just got done. You can now use â100% LTHRâ etc. in the workout builder.
Thanks David! I appreciate that.
