Strava activity visibility update

Is this the correct way to set it up? Download from both Strava and GarminConnect? I am getting “Error fetching activities GARMIN_CONNECT”, even though my Wellness data has been coming across forever.

Just goes to reiterate we need to think about having a source of truth repository for our Activities. At any moment, Strava could pull away bulk uploads and make it extremely difficult to get all of our historical data. I also have everything in GarminConnect, but pulling historical data there is difficult, and they don’t send any non-Garmin device activities (Zwift, EXR, etc). I hate that I can’t use something like ActivityFix to rename Garmin activities either.

After searching in the forum, apparently we cannot do:
Zwift → autosync to Garmin Connect → autosync to Intervals.icu

Back to square one. Hope the direct integration come soon!

My current setup is:

ELEMENT BOLT => Strava
TrainerRoad => Strava
Zwift => Strava
Apple Health => Strava
Strava => intervals.icu

Post-stravapocalypse, what series of tubes are needed to keep this all working without borking old activities in intervals.icu?

Thanks to GDPR they can’t do that so easily. That’s probably the reason why the bulk download is there in the first place. Take out that archive regularly and back it up somewhere. To save space you can remove the media and/or use incremental backups on the unzipped archive.

Can’t you download your activities using the Wahoo connection > Intervals?

Zwift is coming soon; patience

Apple Health > HealthFit > Intervals

You can sync from the GPS Ally+ app to Komoot, and then HealthFit can sync Komoot to Intervals.

Having just checked I have 3442 activities from Strava going back to 2012. As I understand it if I turn off my Strava link they will all disappear?

I’m currently doing the bulk download from Strava.

So I turn off link, then mass import from my bulk download and then all good?

Out door rides now come from Garmin, indoor is TrainingPeaks Virtual so they come direct anyway, or can do

Rather wait a little bit. I have a call with Strava on Thursday and will see what they say about all this. I am also likely to implement an importer for the file they send you which will preserve as much info as possible.

Only if you disconnect your account (revoke access).
If you untick the download activities, you just won’t get new activities.

Okay, I’ve requested my bulk download as a precaution. But maybe this is the wake up call to take control of “MY” data

Isn’t that what we need to do though if we want our data to be ours and share with others on intervals.

Is there an (approx.) ETA for when the import of the Strava bulk data file will be available? And will the import simply replace the existing Strava-sourced data in intervals.icu or will we need to remove Strava-sourced data first?

Yes, that’s right.

Irrespective of Strava’s issues, it’s good to have an independent copy of the data.

For me I have it in WKO5 (it’s stored locally for each activity), plus Garmin, Strava, Intervals, TrainingPeaks, and the bulk downloads on a cloud drive. For my older athletes, I also have it in WKO5.

:+1: TrainingPeaks free stores original data files and super easy to generate downloadable archives (by year, by month, by any timeframe).

From TrainingPeaks I’ve got 2014 Runkeeper files.

It’s pretty awesome in my humble opinion.

Canceled my Strava Subscription today. I’d rather spend that money on intervals.icu then more useless Strava features and less integration.

Let’s pray Zwift integration is coming before my subscription ends, doing it manual is a PITA.

Is there a way to backup alle data from intervals.icu in case of a total meltdown? Don’t expecting any, but with Strava limiting its features one might never know.

You can automatically upload all activity files coming into Intervals.icu (except from Strava) to Dropbox.

I am not anticipating any meltdowns buy I understand why everyone is keen for backups right now :slight_smile:

It’s very easy to get Strava out of the loop and use with Garmin/Wahoo directly. Navigate to Settings using the button on the left nav bar and the bottom has a number of options. I moved away from Strava last year or so when they changed my sub from annual (cheaper) to month-to-month (more expensive) without asking - switched to using Garmin and took about 1 minute. Very easy thanks to David’s great work.

An interesting fact from today within ‘XERT’.
Armando has published an announcement:

From this it would appear that XERT has not been ‘hit’? :wink:

Do you have a garmin or a wahoo. If you do then dual record and save the wahoo or Garmin file and then it can sync to Intervals.
On a frivolous note I can see old garmins etc with dead batteries having some value. Now - which drawer did I put my old Edge 520 in?
