Load for MTB (Xcadey PM)

Hi David!
I have 2 PM, Assioma on my road bike and XCADEY on my MTB.
when using Assioma Load differences between Goldencheetah, Wahoo elemnt app and intervals.icu are small but when using my MTB I have a big difference in intervals.
for example, in my last mtb activity (5025479476) Load in intervals is 145, in ELEMNT app is 173, in GC is 178.
FTP is set the same on every app.
in intervals I tried both Strava sync and original fit file upload.
I don’t know if it’s related to the PM or because MTB have a lot more bursts and coasting than road bike

thanks!

Intervals.icu doesn’t count stopped time when working out load and that MTB ride of yours has a lot of recorded stops. These inflate the TSS calculation if left in. So Intervals.icu will have a higher normalised power (and hence intensity) but lower training load because the duration is the “not stopped” time.

intensity = NP / FTP
TSS = intensity * intensity * hours * 100

You can see the impact of this in the workout builder. Create a ride with 60m at say 65% FTP. Thats a training load of 42. Then add on 60m at 0% sitting in the coffee shop. The training load goes up to 60!

Thanks for the explanation
I wasn’t in a coffee shop tho, unfortunately everything is closed.
Next time I’ll try to pedal downhill too to keep everything consistent! :wink:
