Hi,

I’m trying to understand how the Wahoo sync integration handles workout targets and scheduling internally.

I noticed that a workout exported from Intervals.icu as a FIT file and copied manually to a Wahoo ROAM 3 loses all power targets on the device. The interval durations are present, but targets such as `150-180 W`, `220 W`, or `210-225 W` are not recognised.

However, if I sync the exact same workout through the Intervals.icu ↔ Wahoo integration, the workout appears correctly on the Wahoo with all power targets intact.

This makes me wonder:

1. Does the Wahoo integration send the workout in a different format than the FIT export?
2. Are absolute wattage targets converted to `%FTP` or zones during synchronization?
3. Is the FIT export standards-compliant but exposing a limitation in Wahoo’s FIT workout parser, or does the integration generate a Wahoo-specific workout representation?

I also noticed a separate issue where date-only workouts appear one day late on Wahoo unless I assign an explicit time (e.g. 12:00). My Intervals timezone is different from my current location, so I’m curious whether scheduled workouts are synced as dates or as timezone-aware datetimes.

I’m not looking for a workaround, as I already have one. I’m mostly interested in understanding what data Intervals sends to Wahoo and why the synchronized workout behaves differently from the exported FIT file.

Thanks!

For Garmin, the workout is send in a ‘scripting’ format, interpreted by the Garmin receiving API.
Not sure for Wahoo, but I imagine it is similar.

I am 99% sure that absolute wattage are sent. Usually I don’t adapt the FTP value on the wahoo device, but the correct target values are on the device.
