How to get HRRc value?

I don’t see HRRc metric in my activitiy page. It shows always as " HRRc - ". I’m sure I set my max HR in my setting page, and my HR went beyond my threshold HR in that activity.

Am I missing other requirements to see my HRRc value?

That one has a recording gap after your 24 min interval so the drop in HR is not picked up. This seems to happen whenever you stop putting down the power?

Hi David-san, thank you for your reply!

Oh, so to have HRRc measurement, I shouldn’t stop and should keep riding at easy pace for a while? (maybe L1?)
The example I posted was, when I did time trial on my favorite hill, and after I reached the top of hill, I stopped to catch my breath.

Could you teach me exact requirements to get HRRc value?
I suppose;
0. (If it isn’t automatically set), Set my threshold HR from setting.

  1. Reach threshold HR (what the shortest duration?)
  2. After meeting 1st requirement, keep riding at easy pace. (Are there any requirements? intensity and duration wise?)

Hi David-san,

I just checked my ride on the last weekend, and I found that the HRRc value was shown!
At that time, I just keep riding after climbing up a long hill so I guess that met HRRc calculation requirements! Thanks! :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes you just have to keep moving. I think you might have something set to auto-pause or similar because the data on your previous rides just isn’t there.

Hi David-san,

Exactly. I set “Auto-Stop” feature “On” on my Garmin. Thank you for the inputs!

Hi David, somehow, I’m having trouble getting HRRc values in my last rides (.fit files from my Lezyne Mega XL). Could it have anything to do with the fact that speed or movement isn’t recorded? If so, is it possible to generate that metric without movement data?

It only needs time and heart rate data with starting heart rate high enough. I can see HRRc in your 1h ride today. You can set the min HR per sport in /settings:

Yep, I’m playing with the Min HR value for HRRc calculation right now to try and understand how it works, but not getting far. For example, in activity i11715807, the peak HR is 183 (also an estimation of my LTHR), but HRRc cannot be determined for some reason.

In this ride, HRRc, for me, appears only if I modify the Min HR for the calculation to 160ish, and it does not work with a more reasonable number (180-183), despite the peak HR being 187.

Have you refreshed the data?

I just had a look at the code and HRRc is ignored if the drop is less than 10 bpm in a minute. So thats probably why it isn’t showing up here. You really want to freewheel for a minute or so to measure this.

Oh, indeed, my absolute min HRRc is precisely 10. Thanks for putting an end to my bamboozlement, David.
Even though I awoke this morning to the sounds of another missile attack, your incredible support and engagement made my day brighter.

Oh, and if I understand correctly this feature:

It makes it possible for me to do my own take on the HRRc field, like bumping up the duration of the relevant period to 2 minutes or allowing an HRRc < 10, right? Actually, it would be nice if a custom script could be prepopulated with a default script for, say, computing HRRc or other default metrics. Then you could create custom activity fields much easier.

My HRRc is 25, how much should i input my min HRRc on my setting…?

from /SETTINGS

This setting controls the minimum HR required to trigger the calculation.

Essentially this means that your HR needs to be > this number for the HRRc calc to start calculating. You could try using your Threshold HR

There is no set value to use, but rather one you choose. It’s an indicator of your recovery after spending time (1 minute) above the value; just the greatest drop.

You then need to compare efforts of similar intensity, and not just the HRRc value, eg. a threshold workout and a max effort (AC and VO2 levels) would yield a different value.
