Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this issue. During my outdoor workout yesterday, my average power numbers for my laps on my Garmin were anywhere between 240-250, however those same laps on my Intervals activity has the average power numbers between 208-223. I’m not sure what the issue is!
Oh that might it since there are a couple points in the interval during which I have to coast a little bit. I have auto pause off, but I haven’t adjusted anything with Garmin as far as the zeros go.
I have noticed the power average in Intervals is lower than on my Wahoo head unit and what is on Training Peaks. But its the same as Strava records it. I have tried uploading the file directly (not via Strava) and it gives the same lower numbers. I have my wahoo set not to include Zeros. Is this a setting in Intervals that I am missing?
Average power for the ride in Intervals is not excluding zeroes, unless you stopped for longer then 30sec or your device auto-paused. Thus really ‘not moving’.
Coasting time is counted with zero power.
That’s what it should be. No one is interested in a 40min average power of 250W resulting from a 10 min climb at 250W followed by 30 min zero power descent.
I understand your point. But including zero’s doesn’t really tell you the effort of the ride when you were ‘riding’. Would be good to choose between the two options in Intervals.
You have NP for that. Normalized power will give you a good idea of the effort. IF, Intensity Factor is a result of comparing NP to FTP.
TIZ, Time in zones is a second metric that shows how hard a ride was. High numbers in the higher zones means ‘hard ride’
If you exclude zeroes, the PDC (Power Distribution Chart) becomes useless because you are no longer able to tell how long you can hold a certain power.
