I’ve been lurking through a lot of the MCP/AI threads here and realised Athmex solves a slightly different part of the problem, so thought it was worth sharing.

I’m a triathlete and started using ChatGPT and Claude quite heavily for training. The annoying bit for me wasn’t just getting activity data into the conversation, it was repeatedly explaining the stuff around it: PBs, thresholds, goals, upcoming races, injuries, constraints, preferences etc.

So I built Athmex as a small context layer for that, initially for myself and a few friends. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and it’s started to snowball from there so I’ve taken the leap and made it public facing.

It doesn’t try to be another AI coach and it doesn’t replace Intervals.icu. My thinking is actually the opposite: Intervals/activity MCPs are great at giving the AI the **training data** , while Athmex gives it the **athlete behind the data**.

You store your athlete profile once and ChatGPT or Claude can pull that context when it needs it.

I’ve got it in **completely free** open beta at the minute and I’m mainly looking for people who already use AI for endurance training questions and training help to tell me where the idea is useful and where it needs more

I built it, so obviously biased, but happy to answer anything about how it works.

One thing I’d genuinely be interested in from people here: if you already have Intervals connected to Claude/ChatGPT, what information do you still find yourself manually explaining to the AI?

That’s interesting, I hadn’t come across the strategy part of STAS.

How are you using it in practice? Is it mainly a block of information/instructions that you maintain yourself, or does STAS structure things like PBs, thresholds, goals, races, injuries etc and let Claude/GPT update them over time as well?

Genuinely interested as that sounds like there could be some overlap.

## Principios

- Mejor evidencia adaptada al atleta.

- Modelo aprox. 80–90 % baja intensidad y 10–20 % moderada/alta, ajustable según objetivo.

- Continuidad \> completar sesión. Mejor perder un entrenamiento que una semana.

- Cada sesión tiene objetivo fisiológico claro.

- Variar sin comprometer el objetivo.

## Perfil y peso

45 años; 169 cm; 59 kg. Trabajo físico 7 h/día lunes-viernes. Recuperación cardiovascular rápida; recuperación muscular limitante.

Buscar peso competitivo que maximice rendimiento manteniendo salud, fuerza y disponibilidad energética. Revisar peso, tendencia, rendimiento, masa muscular, recuperación y disponibilidad. Si procede, pérdida normalmente 0,2–0,5 kg/semana según carga/calendario. Nunca priorizar peso sobre calidad o recuperación.

## FC personales

LTHR 158; FCmáx 174. Z1 0–115; Z2 116–135; Z3 136–148; Z4 149–165; Z5 166–174 bpm. Prescribir siempre bpm absolutos.

## VDOT y objetivos

2023: HM Valencia 1:13 → 57–58; Maratón Valencia 2:32 → 56–57.
2025: 5 km 17:00 → 53; 10 km 35:18 → 52.
VDOT actual 53–54; objetivo 57–58.

Septiembre 10 km Almenara: **sub 34:30**.
25 octubre MM Valencia: **sub 1:13**.
Diciembre Maratón Valencia si se disputa: **sub 2:32**.

## Ritmos/control

200–500: ritmo 3–5 km; control potencia, técnica y sensaciones; FC no limita.
600–1000: ritmo 10 km; FC, ritmo y potencia.
Rodajes y tiradas largas: 116–135 bpm.

## Semana

Lunes Z1-Z2. Martes calidad. Miércoles suave, preferentemente en ayunas. Jueves umbral. Viernes descanso fijo. Sábado largo/intensidad/asfalto. Domingo trail suave y bicicleta cuando aporte valor.

## Fuerza/bici

Agosto 2 sesiones gimnasio; septiembre+ 1. Rotación A fuerza máxima, B estabilidad, C potencia.

## Molestias/riesgos

Ante dolor muscular: detener parte intensa, no terminar series, no compensar; bicicleta si mantiene objetivo.

**Fortalezas:** resistencia, ultras, nutrición, gestión esfuerzo.

**Mejoras:** velocidad, potencia, economía, técnica, fuerza específica, ritmo MM.

**Riesgos:** isquios, bajadas largas, calor, trabajo físico diario.

# Formato estructurado Intervals.icu/Garmin

Separar fases con `Press lap` y mantener repeticiones agrupadas.

```auto
-Press lap 20m Z1-Z2 HR
Tecnica 5x
- 25s Z3 HR
- 25s Z1 HR
-Press lap 1m Z1 HR
Progresivos 5x
- 15s Z5 HR
- 45s Z1 HR
-Press lap 1m Z1 HR
Main Set 8x
- 500mtr Z4 HR
- 75s Z1 HR
Cooldown
-Press lap 15m Z1-Z2 HR
```

### Reglas

### Tirada larga

```auto
-Press lap 16km Z2 HR (116-135bpm)
-Press lap 1m Z1-Z2 HR
-5km Z3 HR (136-145bpm)
-Press lap 15m Z1-Z2 HR (92-135bpm)
```

Thanks, that’s really useful, and seeing the detail you keep in STAS helps me understand your workflow much better.

I agree with you on the interview idea. One of the things I want Athmex to do increasingly well is help build that persistent athlete context through a natural conversation, rather than expecting the athlete to know exactly what data they need to enter themselves. That works already using Claude or ChatGPT. Corrections are important too, if you tell the AI that something about you is wrong, that correction becomes part of the Athmex profile rather than being forgotten in the next conversation.

I think one difference is the type of athlete I’m trying to make Athmex accessible to as well.

Your setup is quite sophisticated and data-driven. Athmex is deliberately designed so that someone doesn’t need an Intervals.icu account, CSV exports, or a highly structured training setup to benefit from it. They might simply know their recent race times, their goals, roughly how much they train, an injury they’re managing and a few preferences. Athmex can hold that context for ChatGPT or Claude and build it out over time.

For more advanced athletes, I definitely see value in combining that persistent context with detailed activity data from tools such as Intervals.icu.

The other piece I’m working on is closing the loop in the opposite direction: allowing a workout created with ChatGPT/Claude to be pushed back to the athlete’s watch. That’s coming soon.

So I think we’re looking at some of the same problems, but from slightly different starting points. Your example is really helpful because it shows what the advanced end of the spectrum looks like. Thank you 🙂

Quick update from the person building Athmex. It is now publicly available.

The core idea has stayed the same: I wanted ChatGPT or Claude to start from a current picture of the athlete, rather than make people repeat their goals, race plans, PBs, thresholds, equipment, availability and constraints every time they ask a question.

Athmex gives the assistant that profile. Intervals.icu can provide the activity and training data; Athmex is there to carry the wider context around it.

If you use ChatGPT or Claude for training conversations, you can have a look at [https://athmex.com](https://athmex.com). I’d genuinely be interested in what context you still find yourself repeating, or what would make this more useful alongside Intervals.

A little Athmex update, and a thank you to people here.

We’ve had lots of users come over from the Intervals forum, so thank you to everyone who’s given it a go. It’s great to see people using it alongside their existing training setup.

A few things worth highlighting: PBs and thresholds are kept with dates, and you can ask Claude to review or update your athlete profile as your goals and circumstances change. So a new race result or a change in the days you can train can be saved for future conversations.

There’s also setup guidance for bringing your training data into Claude or ChatGPT. If you already have your Intervals data available to your assistant, Athmex can sit alongside it with the goals, races and real-life context around those sessions.

**If anyone here would like an extended free trial beyond the usual 14 days, just drop me a message or DM and I’ll extend it for you.** I’d be happy to give people from this forum a bit more time to try it properly.

If you’ve been using it, I’d love to hear how it fits into your training conversations and what’s still awkward.

Looks interesting - how is this difference to storing an athlete\_profile.md in Claude though? I’ve given Opus 5.5 context all the way from childhood to today, health info, illness etc. and it’s stored in the md file?

That’s a really good question @dush91, and to be fair, if you’ve already built a detailed athlete\_profile.md file and keep it updated, you’re doing something quite similar!

The main difference is that Athmex makes the whole process much more structured, visual and accessible, particularly for people who aren’t technically minded or wouldn’t know where to start with Markdown files.

Rather than managing a document yourself, you’ve got a proper athlete profile with dedicated sections for goals, races, PBs, training metrics, injuries, equipment etc. Claude or ChatGPT can read and update that information directly through conversation, while keeping track of changes over time.

It can also generate useful prompts based on your profile, for example around upcoming races, missing information or training values that might be getting stale.

Another advantage is that your profile is independent of Claude, so you can use the same information across ChatGPT and Claude without maintaining separate files.

There’s plenty more I’m working towards based on user feedback too, including tracking specific workouts to watch and storing training plans.

I wouldn’t pretend it completely replaces what you’ve built, especially if your existing setup is working well. But I’d be really interested to hear whether Athmex adds value or makes any of that easier.

You’re probably exactly the sort of user whose feedback would be particularly valuable!
